Locals block postal highway demanding arrest of driver in child's fatal accident

KAPILVASTU, Feb 3: Local residents of Kapilvastu have been staging protests for three consecutive days, blocking vehicular movement along the Postal Highway, demanding immediate arrest of the driver of the vehicle that crushed a child to death.

KAPILVASTU, Feb 3: Local residents of Kapilvastu have been staging protests for three consecutive days, blocking vehicular movement along the Postal Highway, demanding immediate arrest of the driver of the vehicle that crushed a child to death.


The accident, which occurred on the Taulihawa-Bahadurganj Express road in Kapilvastu at around 6 PM on Thursday, resulted in the death of a five-year-old girl from Bargada village in Maharajgunj Municipality-2.

Taiba Khatun, the five-year-old daughter of local Naeem Teli, was killed when she was struck by a pick-up van with an unidentified number plate. After the incident, the driver fled with the vehicle.


Local Nizamuddin Muslim said that even after three days of the accident, the vehicle and the driver have not been apprehended.


Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabaratna Paudel said that the vehicle that was involved in the accident has not yet been identified and the investigation is still underway. While assuring the protestors that they will soon arrest the driver along with the vehicle, SP Paudel asked the locals to lift their blockade.
