KATHMANDU, July 9: Loan sharking victims have staged demonstrations near the federal parliament building in New Baneshwar demanding enactment of a law to penalize loan sharks.

KATHMANDU, July 9: Loan sharking victims have staged demonstrations near the federal parliament building in New Baneshwar demanding enactment of a law to penalize loan sharks.


The loan sharking victims marched past New Baneshwar from Maitighar Mandala before gathering for protests at New Baneshwar. The protest comes after the substitution bill on loan sharking has become inactive due to continuous protest of the UML.

The bill, which had to be endorsed by the House of Representatives and sent to the National Assembly by last Wednesday, and approved by the National Assembly and sent to the President, became inactive due to obstruction made by the UML in federal parliament.
