Minister Lekhak explained that although the monarchist group had obtained permission to hold a peaceful protest, they resorted to vandalism and arson. He added that statements made by former King Gyanendra Shah, the protest on March 9, and expressions from royalist leaders made it clear that their goal was to overthrow the constitution and the system.

He accused the protest leaders of inciting the crowd to engage in violence and set fire to private property.
