Little Angels' bag Junior TT title<br/>Gyan, Golden Peak, TIA into basketball quarters

KATHMANDU, Aug 18: Little Angels´ School won the Third LAS/ JTI Inter School Open Junior Table Tennis Tournament title on Tuesday. Hosts Little Angels´ garnered 170 points to lift the title of the tournament among 26 participant schools. The British School finished second with 66 points. [break]



In the final day of the tournament, Geeta Shrestha of Little Angels´ won U-12 girls´ gold medal defeating Sakshi Gurung of Chandbag School 7-6 in the tie breaker. Likewise, Abhaya Gauchan won gold of U-12 boys outclassing Aakash Roka of Little Angels´ by 9-3.



Karuna Gauchan of Rato Bangala School took U-10 girls´ gold medal while Aabhash Malla won gold in boys´ category. In U-14 boys´ section, Achal Thapa of Rato Bangala took gold medal while Meena Gharti Magar of Brihaspati Vidya Sadan won gold in the girls´ category.



Meena went on to win the U-16 girls´ title also, while Pranjal Kayastha of Gandaki Boarding School won the boys´ title of U-16.





Gyan, Golden Peak, TIA into final eight



KATHMANDU, Aug 18: Gyan Niketan, Golden Peak and Tungram International Academy (TIA) booked their place in the last eight of the Fourth Kwiks Greenland Inter-School Basketball Competition in senior boys´ category on Tuesday.



Gyan Niketan thrashed Buddhajyoti 40-18, Golden Peak ousted Venus School 35-23 and TIA crushed Grand Academy 56-15. TIA will now play Neric School while Golden Peak takes on Deep Jyoti.



Likewise, in junior boys´ section, hosts Greenland set up a quarterfinal clash with Clinton Public after beating Golden Peak 16-11.





ACME, Classic College win matches



KATHMANDU, Aug 18: ACME and Classic College won their respective matches in the ongoing NK Singh Memorial Inter-College Football Tournament on Tuesday.



ACME College defeated Canvas International School by a solitary goal in the first match. Raj Kumar Khadka scored the goal in the 24th minute.



In the second match, Classic College thrashed White House Secondary School four goals to one. Bhim Basnet opened the score sheet in the third minute and Janak Bhandari doubled the score in the 12th minute while Sujan added another goal in the 20th minute. An own goal in the 29th minute made matters worse for White House. Krishna Bashyal replied with one goal for White House.
