Every year, lightning strikes have been killing and injuring humans and livestock and damaging property in the district, according to locals.
According to a teacher at Jalapa Secondary School of Nunthala, Hem Bikram Rai, earthing systems were installed in 35 households with the support of Mahure Natural Community Forest Users Group.
The project is the first-of-its-kind in the district. Lightning has been killing people in the district every year,” Rai said, “This project is an initiative to overcome this problem.”
The forest users group had supplied some of the materials for the earthing system while salt and coal were arranged by the homeowners themselves.
