BIRENDRANAGAR, May 16: CCTV cameras have been installed at the main crossings of the Karnali Highway. CCTV cameras have been installed at various places in Barahatal Rural Municipality-5 of Surkhet along the Karnali Highway in the Baddichaur market area.
Karnali Province Police chief, DIG Bhim Prasad Dhakal inaugurated the installation of CCTV cameras in Barahatal Rural Municipality and temporary traffic post Baddichaur project. Barahatal Rural Municipality has built a control room at the temporary traffic post, Baddichaur, to monitor unwanted activities and ensure peace and road safety. According to the rural municipality, eight CCTV cameras have been installed along the highway in the market area. Dhimraj Julmi Magar, ward chairman of Barahatal Rural Municipality-5, said that CCTV cameras are the backbone for peace and security.

Laxmi Pun Magar, vice- chairperson of Barahatal Rural Municipality, said that CCTV cameras were installed by the rural municipality in coordination with the police. Karnali Province Police Chief, DIG Dhakal said that by placing CCTV cameras in every corner and place of the market area, it will be easy to find out the causes of incidents and minimize other incidents and find the culprits. "A CCTV camera is a modern and effective tool for security management," said DIG Dhakal, “The commendable work of the rural municipality will help to ensure peace and security.” It is believed that after the installation of the CCTV cameras along the highway and in the market area, various types of theft, smuggling and traffic accidents will be reduced. Bhim Bahadur Bhandari, chairperson of the rural municipality, said that the municipality will allocate the budget to install the CCTV cameras in other locations in the coming year.
