Life in Kathmandu Valley returning to normal with cessation of rainfall

Roadways, traffic, business and the people's daily activities have largely returned to normal. Though the rains affected the road connectivity here, now all major roads are operational, said Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh  Raj Subedi.

KATHMANDU, Oct 6: Life in the Kathmandu Valley, which had been disrupted by the incessant rains particularly on Saturday, has started returning to normal following the cessation of rain on Sunday. The rainfall had begun here on Friday night. 



Roadways, traffic, business and the people's daily activities have largely returned to normal. Though the rains affected the road connectivity here, now all major roads are operational, said Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh  Raj Subedi. 


People had faced difficulties for mobility during the rains. But with the improvement in weather, people's movement has increased in the market areas as they stepped out to purchase daily essentials.

According to traders, the flow of customers has increased in Asan, Indrachowk, New Road, Old Baneshwor and the Gongabu areas.


Sarita Thapa who runs a fancy shop in Old Baneshwor said, "It feels good to see sunshine after the incessant rains brought by the monsoon." 


However, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology stated the country's weather is still being influenced by the monsoon winds. The system is likely to cause generally cloudy in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali and the Sudurpaschim Provinces and partially cloudy in the remaining provinces. 


Similarly, a few places  of Koshi, Bagamati, Lumbimi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and the hilly and Teraion regions of the remaining provinces are likely to experience moderate rains accompanied by thunder  and lightning today.


Tonight, the weather is expected to be generally cloudy in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpachim Provinces and partially cloudy in the remaining provinces.  A few places of the hilly and Terai regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces may experience moderate thunder showers.
