The host Kathmandu District Badminton Association (KDBA) organized a press conference on Monday in the capital and informed that Li-Nang would provide badminton kits worth Rs 500,000 for the tournament.
KDBA President Deepak Thapa said that the stage is all set for the tournament. According to Thapa, matches till the quarterfinals will be played at the covered hall of the Armed Police Force at its headquarters in Hallchowk while rest of the matches will be played at the National Sports Council’s covered hall, Tripureshwar.
The tournament, which is being held on the initiative of Nepal Badminton Association, will feature 400 shuttlers from 35 districts and three clubs -- Nepal Police Club, Nepal APF Club and Nepal Army.
The six-day tournament will feature 12 events -- men´s singles, men´s doubles, women´s singles, women´s doubles, mixed doubles, U-16 boys´ and girls´ singles, U-17 boys´ and girls´ doubles, men´s team event, women´s team event and veterans´ (above 45 years) event.
According to KDBA, the tournament will also have foreign umpires and observers besides four international umpires from Nepal and other national umpires.
According to Nepal Badminton Association General Secretary Ramji Bahadur Shrestha, the organizing committee of the tournament has decided to felicitate former Nepal champions and other individuals who have contributed to the development of Nepali badminton.
