KATHMANDU, May 16: Locals in Jitpurfedi from Tarakeshwor Municipality-8 have been terrorized by the leopard along with the frequent aftershocks.

The people displaced after their houses collapsed due to the devastating earthquake are now trying to forget the loss of life and property, living in tents and in the temporary huts. But they have no peace at all after the wild beast began to terrorize them during the night coming near the huts, said Ramsharan Gajurel, a local.

All the houses and sheds collapsed in the earthquake and now we are living in a tent where leopards terrorize people arriving from the Shivapuri National Park and Nagarjun jungle, Gajurel said.

We have been rather living in fear of earthquake and even the leopard has started venturing into villages further terrorizing the villagers, said Homnath Aryal, 80, of the Municipality. Cattle have been tethered in the open and the wild beasts frequently visit the villages, thus it has been difficult to save the cattle, he added.

"We could not sleep for the fear that leopard might attack children and the cattle," he shared. RSS
