POKHARA, August 2: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Yagya Bahadur Thapa today pledged to heightening prestige of an independent judiciary considered to be the backbone of a democracy.
Stressing the need for increasing people's access to judiciary, the minister also made commitment to doing his part to take initiatives in developing physical infrastructure in judiciary not only in focusing on career development and increasing facilities and perks for judges.
Minister Thapa was speaking at a programme organised by High Court Bar Unit in Pokhara.
He also called for judges to deliver justice irrespective of being under pressure from any quarters.
Likewise on the occasion, chief Judge of High Court Kumar Chudal pledged to delivering justice in a free and prompt manner.
Also, senior advocate Krishna Thapa, the Bar President Dayaram Gautam, judge Ishwori Banjade, advocates Som Shrestha, Gobinda Poudel and Shiva Wagle also spoke at the event.
