Landslide buries three houses, blocks highway

PHALEBAS (Parbat), Aug 22: A landslide triggered by continuous rains buried three houses at Deupur VDC-9 on Monday morning.



The landslip also blocked the Pokhara-Baglung Highway and damaged the 33-KV power transmission line of the Modikhola Hydroelectricity Project with a generation capacity of 14.8 Kilowatts. [break]



However, no loss of life has resulted from the landslide, the local Dimuwa Police Post stated.



The landslide that started falling since five in the morning on Monday has still not stopped and mud and debris continues to fall down, said locals.



It looks impossible to remove the debris for clearing the highway any time soon as it continues to rain and the landslide is still falling down.



Vehicular movement on the highway has come to a standstill and many vehicles heading to different destinations from Baglung, Myagdi and Parbat are stranded.
