PALPA, Sept 24: Five members of a family went missing in Rambha Rural Municipality-2 in Phoksingkot after a massive landslide triggered by incessant rainfall buried two houses on Wednesday night.
According to District Police Office, Palpa, they went missing after the houses belonging to Hum Bahadur Gaha and Man Bahadur Gaha in Belauja area were washed away by the landslide Wednesday night.
A local journalist Aiwat Saru said the five members of the family were sleeping at the house of Hum Bahadur Gaha when the landslide occurred. Those missing include one male, two females, and two minor girls.
Locals said three members of Man Bahadur Gaha's family were able to survive as they were able to run away from the house.
A spokesperson at Rambha Rural Municipality Krishna Prasad Regmi said search and rescue efforts are hampered as landslide has continued due to the incessant rainfall. A team of police personnel is currently in the way to help in the search and rescue efforts.
