Sandeep Lamichhane excluded from the Nepali cricket team going to UAE

KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Sandeep Lamichhane is not going to play the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two matches in the UAE. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has placed Pratish GC in place of Lamichhane in the list of players going to the UAE.

KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Sandeep Lamichhane is not going to play the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two matches in the UAE. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has placed Pratish GC in place of  Lamichhane in the list of players going to the UAE.


According to sources, CAN has not included Lamichhane for the series to be held abroad due to legal hurdles.

Nepal is playing against the UAE and Papua New Guinea from February 27 to March 6 under League Two. The Nepali team will play its first match against Papua New Guinea on February 27 and is going to the UAE on February 25.


The case of Sandeep Lamichhane, accused of raping a minor, is pending at the district court in Kathmandu. After the High Court Patan released him on a bail of Rs 2 million, CAN included him in the team for the matches against Scotland and Namibia at home.


The High Court had mentioned that Lamichhane will not be allowed to go abroad while ordering his release on bail.
