KATHMANDU, June 9: National Sports Council Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama ended his last formal press conference at his office venting ire against Minister for Youth and Sports (MoYS) Purusottam Paudel and NSC Vice President Lama Tendi Sherpa. Lama's four year tenure at the NSC will end on Friday.

Without naming Minister Paudel, Lama told, "I worked with seven sports ministers in my four-year tenure. But the latest one neither understands sports nor tries to learn anything about it. His only interest is to recruit his near ones and destroy sports with illegal activities."

Lama also gave himself 75 marks out of 100 for his works at the NSC on Tuesday during his self-review as the executive head of NSC four days before his term expires.Member Secretary Lama and Minister Paudel have been trading barbs since the formation of the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML coalition government that replaced the coalition government of the CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist. Lama was nominated under UCPN-Moaist quota during the Jhalanath Khanal-led government. But he refused to leave his post at the NSC after the Maoists pulled out of the government. Minister Paudel had even sacked him, but Lama won a stay order from the Supreme Court and continued to carry on in the position.

Minister Paudel, also the president of NSC board, had later nominated UML cadre Lama Tendi Sherpa for the vacant post at the NSC.

Meanwhile, the outgoing Member Secretary Lama gave out a 10-page long written statement highlighting his achievement at the NSC, including progress in the field of infrastructure, sports competitions, and also the difficulties he faced. He even outlined guidelines for the future development of the sports sector.
