Kunwar bags bronze in para taekwondo

KATHMANDU,June 9: Nepali para-athlete Yadav Kunwar claimed bronze in the Fourth WTF World Para Taekwondo Championship held in Lausanne, Switzerland on Saturday. It was Nepal´s first participation in para taekwondo. Kunwar received a bye in the first round and defeated Brazil´s Almeida Flavio 5-3 in the quarterfinal.



In the semifinal, Kunwar lost 5-11 to Isaldibirov Magonedzagir of Russia. Kunwar was accompanied by manager-cum-coach Janardan KC. Kunwar also received the Good Fighting Spirit Award for his performance. "This is the biggest achievement of my playing career. I want to dedicate this award to all Nepalis," said Kunwar.
