KATHMANDU, Sept 13: Sita Bhandari and Ranjana Dhamala have left for Poland on Tuesday to participate in the Fifth European Para Taekwondo Championship.
The tournament, which will see participation of more than 40 nations, will be held on September 15 and 16 in Warsaw.
National Sports Council (NSC)'s Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista bade farewell to the four-member team that includes coach Kalyan Dabar, team leader Dipak Bista along with two players at his office.
Ranjana, who had won medal in the past tournaments held in Russia and the Philippines, has set target to win gold this time. “I won medals in the past. I have trained hard setting the target of winning medal this time as well,” said the 22-year-old Ranjana.
Ranjana had won bronze in the IWAS World Games held in Sochi, Russia in 2015 while she claimed silver in the Asian Para Taekwondo held in Manila, the Philippines earlier this year.
Nepal has been participating in the Para Taekwondo events since the recent World Championship held in Switzerland.
