KATHMANDU, Oct 31: In celebration of Kukur Tihar, the second day of Yama Panchak, the Canine Division of Nepal Police held a special program celebrating the day dedicated to dogs.
At the event organized in Maharajgunj, trained police dogs were worshiped, honored and awarded medals for outstanding performance. This year's top-performing dog received a special prize.

The program featured demonstrations of various skills by the trained dogs, including obstacle courses, tracking, rescue operations, running competitions, high jumps and detection exercises such as locating hidden items, identifying criminals, searching for weapons and explosives, and detecting drugs. An art exhibition showcasing remote-control operations was also displayed.
Nepal Police has long relied on these specially trained dogs to support evidence-based crime investigations and enhance operational effectiveness.
