WWAG President Godawari Singh Shahi said the group is holding the festival with the objective of promoting local food, products and tourist destinations of both the regions. “As the government has not been active in promoting tourist destinations of the regions, we have decided to organize the fair for promotion and development of the regions,” said Shahi. According to the organizers, the festival will have 20 stalls, where food and products of the two regions would be exhibited. The festival will also disseminate information on resorts, hotels and tourist destinations in the regions.
“As this is the first festival of its kind, we have decided to put few stalls. Our focus is on exhibiting the culture of the area, for which we have invited cultural groups from Bardiya, Doti, Bajhang, Achham and many other places,” said Amar Bahadur Shahi, managing director of Raaika Tours & Travels.
Program Coordinator Tek Bahadur Shahi said travel and tour operators should now focus on these regions as well while selling packages to domestic as well as international tourists.
The organizers have fixed the entrance fee for the festival at Rs 30 for general visitors and Rs 20 for students. Tickets for cultural programs are priced at Rs 1,000, Rs 500, Rs 300 and Rs 200. But students can attend cultural program upon purchasing 50-rupee tickets.
The organizers are expecting the cost for the festival to hover at Rs 2.5 million. Turnout of 50,000 people is expected at the event.
