CHITWAN, April 5: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala on Friday claimed that it is not differences of political parties that have actually caused a delay in announcing the date of new elections.

Speaking to reporters at Bharatpur airport, Koirala expressed concerns over the delay and stressed that the government should unveil the election date as soon as possible. [break]

He also said his party is for holding new polls in July this year and added that efforts are ongoing to persuade the dissident parties, including CPN-Maoist, to participate in the upcoming elections.

“All parties have to take part in the elections and make them a success. We hardly have another option for now,” he said, adding that even the people are in favor of fresh mandate. Koirala has arrived in Chitwan to participate in a party program to be held at Ratnagar.
