KATHMANDU, Oct 10: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has embarked on a commendable initiative to provide free blood services to its residents, ensuring access to vital medical resources. Mayor Balendra Shah made the announcement through social media on Monday, emphasizing the importance of preventing premature deaths due to a shortage of blood during emergency treatments or medical conditions.
KMC's noble move towards free blood transfusion service
Mayor Shah stated, "In our commitment to ensure that no resident of our city suffers untimely loss of life due to a lack of blood for emergency or medical treatments, we have partnered with the Nepal Red Cross Society. Starting from 2080/06/22, we are launching a blood transfusion service, enabling all Kathmandu Metropolitan City residents to access free blood while receiving medical care at any hospital."
To avail this service, residents are required to contact the Nepal Red Cross Society Central Office and provide necessary documents, such as citizenship, immigration records, or real estate tax payment documents, confirming their residency within Kathmandu Metropolitan City. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare accessibility and safeguard the well-being of the city's inhabitants during critical medical situations.
