KATHMANDU, Sept 13: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has intensified the task of removing hoarding boards and banners from core city areas in line with the Supreme Court's order to regulate outdoor publicity to protect the city's beauty.
According to Ghanapati Sapkota, chief of the Enforcement Division at KMC, they have already taken down over 500 hoarding boards and banners from various parts of Kathmandu city in a week.

"Most of the hoarding boards and banners we have seized belong to educational consultancies. Their flashiness and large size obscure the beauty of the city," said Sapkota.
The Enforcement Division of the KMC has also raided a dozen of education consultancies in Putalisadak to confiscate hoarding boards and banners. The ongoing raids have been mostly centered in the major city areas like Putalisadak, Dillibazar, Jamal and Ratnapark.
Publicity objects such as movie posters and advertisements of various companies have festered uncontrollably in Kathmandu, defacing the looks of the core city areas.
