KATHMANDU, Jan 4: Doctors at Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) have launched protests after the KMC denied entry to resident doctor Bishad Dahal.

Even though KU has adjourned the suspension of physician Dr Dahal, the KMC has not allowed him to enter the college. Following this, other resident physicians have also joined the protest.

Kathmandu University's Dean Dr Manoj Humagain sent a notice of adjournment of suspension of Dr Dahal to the KMC administration on Tuesday. However, until Wednesday, the KMC administration has not allowed Dr Dahal to enter the college. In protest of this decision, doctors from the college are currently demonstrating outside, demanding the revocation of Dr Dahal's suspension.

On Thursday, the college administration announced Dr Dahal had been suspended for one month. However, KU wrote a letter asking to submit the opinion of the college within three days by postponing the suspension of Dr Dahal. After receiving the said opinion, a decision will be made whether to implement the suspension or not. KU said that Dahal's suspension has been postponed for now.

KU has also raised questions about whether Dr Dahal was provided an opportunity to clarify, and whether a written opinion with grounds for suspension has been submitted by the concerned preceptor.

Dr Bishad Dahal was suspended by the KMC for a month after he raised his voice about field work, saying that injustice has been done in the name of health camps. Last Thursday, the hospital suspended Dahal for a month citing non-participation in a health camp.
