KATHMANDU, Nov 5: The families of the deceased and the struggle committee, who have been protesting against the Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) for the past few days, have staged a sit-in protest alleging that a patient died due to negligence of doctors involved in the treatment.
After the death of 48-year-old Shailendra Bidhyadhar, a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, Omnagar, on October 16, the family and relatives of the deceased began to protest against the KMC demanding action against the guilty and compensation to the family of the deceased.

The struggle committee team along with Sushila Bidhyadhar, wife of the deceased, staged a protest around the hospital today with slogans such as 'government should give justice to the victims' and 'people cannot be killed with a license'.
The agitating relatives of the deceased have demanded proper compensation and the cost of treatment in the Neuro hospital, stating that the doctor had cut the nerves of head of the patient during the operation of the brain tumor.
Indra Bahadur Shrestha, the coordinator of the Struggle Committee, said that even after 21 days of the patient's death, the hospital did not show any interest in their demands. He warned of picketing the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar on Sunday if the hospital failed to address their demands.
