KIST, Campion in quarterfinals

KATHMANDU, May 4: KIST and Campion College advanced into the quarterfinals of Thames Cup Inter-college T20 Cricket Tournament on Saturday winning their respective matches at the Army grounds, Bhaktapur.



Puraskar Shah shone with the bat and ball as KIST defeated Everest College by 42 runs. Invited to bat first, KIST posted 120 runs for the loss of two wickets with Shah scoring an unbeaten 43 runs, and then bundled out Everest for 81 runs in 17 overs.[break]



Bivek Adhikari also remained unbeaten on 19 runs while Aman Ojha contributed 27 runs and Bigyan Joshi made 9. Ashish Rupakheti and Roshan KC of Everest took one wicket each.



In reply, Roshan KC scored unbeaten 15 runs for Everest while Rammani Adhikari (13), Bishal Subedi (10) and Ashish Rupakheti (10) were the other batsmen to reach double figures. Bibek Adhikari claimed the highest four wickets for KIST while man-of-the-match Shah claimed two wickets.



In another match of the day, Rahul Chhetri stole the show to help Campion College defeat DAV by four wickets. Electing to bat first DAV was bundled out for 118 runs in 18.2 overs as Chhetri and Inesh Maharjan claimed three wickets each for Campion. Shrigesh Shakya picked two wickets and Bikash Jha got one.



Manu Subedi was the highest scorer for DAV with 25 runs. Bibek Dewa (18), Raunak Shrestha (14) and Sanjeev Chhetri (10) also contributed to the team´s total.



Chasing the target, Campion made 122/6 in 16.5 overs. Ahil Shrestha scored the highest 36 runs while man-of-the-match Rahul Chhetri scored 18 runs. Bikash Jha remained unbeaten on 16 runs. Ashish Rijal and Prakash Thapa of DAV bagged two wickets each.



NCC will face Mahendra Morang Campus while Kathford will lock horns with Prime on Sunday.
