SURKHET, Dec 29: The bust of late King Birendra Shah has been reinstalled at Birendra Chowk of Birendranagar, Surkhet after 16 years. The late king’s bust at the same place was demolished by protestors during the 2006 People’s Movement
The bust was reinstalled on the occasion of the 77th Birthday of late King Birendra by the Independent Civil Society on Wednesday. According to Independent Civil Society leader Bharat Prasad Dhakal, the bust has been reinstalled as respect to the late King’s contribution and steps toward the development of the region.
Although the bust was planned to be reinstalled at an earlier date, it was postponed due to a dispute among the political parties over installing the bust.
