NEPALGUNJ, June 28: Former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) senior leader, Jhalanath Khanal, today laid the foundation stone for the construction of a weightlifting academy building at Nepalgunj stadium premises.
The academy is being built with an aim to train young children and make them good weightlifting athletes. The children of suitable age will be selected from schools in mid and far-western region.
Speaking at the ceremony, CPN (UML) senior leader Khanal suggested the government to prioritize sports sector's development in its policies and program.
The country has moved forward on path of economic prosperity following the making of the new constitution, Khanal said while underscoring the need for development of the sports sector.
On the occasion, former PM Khanal was briefed on the structure of the building by Nepal Weightlifting Association Central Chairman, Ratan Tandon. RSS
