Kathmandu team, which comprised Saroj Maharjan, Ramesh Magar, Mohan Sunar, Deepak Krishna Shrestha and Sanjay Maharjan, claimed the gold medal on the final day of the championship held at Multiple Martial Arts Center, Nayabazaar. Likewise, the Nepal Police Club team comprising Sita Chaudhary, Radha Devi Rai, Sushila Adhikari, Pramila Khadka and Indira Rai clinched gold in the women´s team event. Kathmandu claimed silver medal while Banke took bronze in the event.
Kathmandu topped the medals tally winning six gold, four silver and four bronze medals. Nepal Police Club finished second with five gold, two silver and two bronze medals while Nepal Army took third place with two gold, three silver and three bronze medals.
Nepal Police Club judoka Prakash Nepali (-73kg) was adjudged the best male player of the championship while Nepal Army´s Leela Adhikari (-48kg) won the best female player award.
Diwakar Basnet of Lalitpur and Sushila Adhikari of Nepal Police Club bagged awards for best ippon.
Altogether 156 judokas, including 63 women, from 17 districts and three departmental teams -- Nepal Police Club, Nepal APF Club and Nepal Army -- competed in 14 individual and two team events during the three-day championship organized by Nepal Judo Association.
