Kathmandu Municipal Police Chief Raju Pandey suspended, Joshi appointed successor

KATHMANDU, June 3: Raju Pandey, the chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s municipal police, has been suspended for six months after failing to provide a satisfactory explanation in response to an inquiry.



According to a source at the metropolis, Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain issued the suspension following Pandey’s unsatisfactory clarification.

In the wake of Pandey’s suspension, Municipal Police Superintendent Bishnu Prasad Joshi has been appointed as the new head of Kathmandu’s municipal police. The appointment was made by the metropolis administration, assigning Joshi with immediate effect.


To formally remove Pandey from his position, the Chief Administrative Officer must now recommend his dismissal at the executive committee meeting.
