KATHMANDU, Aug 21: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) has appointed Superintendent of Municipal Police Raju Pandey to the post of chief of Kathmandu Municipal Police.
SP Pandey replaces SP Dhanapati Sapkota who served as the chief of the Kathmandu Municipal Police Chief for a long time.

According to KMC’s Joint Spokesperson Mahesh Kafle, the appointment of SP Pandey as the Kathmandu Municipal Police chief is as per a regular process of the KMC. Kafle said, “He [SP Sapkota] held the responsibilities of the Kathmandu municipal police chief for quite a long time. SP Pandey has now replaced him under a regular process. There is no other reason.”
SP Sapkota will now oversee the Administration Department of Kathmandu municipal police.
“In KMC, there are five municipal Superintendents of Police (SPs). Among them, Mayor Balen has decided to appoint SP Pandey to the crucial post of Kathmandu municipal police chief,” Joint Spokesperson Kafle said.
