KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The Kathmandu District Court (KDC) has issued arrest warrants against 130 individuals accused of their involvement in the controversial land scam of Lalita Niwas, Baluwatar.
According to an official at the KDC, the court issued arrest warrants against eight people on Friday after a similar arrest warrant against over 100 individuals was issued earlier last week. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), which has been investigating the case, arrested Ram Kumar Subedi and his wife Madhavi on the charge of preparing fake government documents related to the land scam.

Two years ago, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed cases against 175 individuals for their alleged involvement to capture 114 ropani (5.8 hectares) of the state-owned land worth billions of rupees.
Former deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar, four former ministers, former head of the CIAA Deep Basnyat, and two former secretaries, among others, have been accused in the country’s one of the biggest land scam reported so far.
