DHANUSA, May 30: The District Police Office, Dhanusha, has issued arrest warrants against the then chief district officer (CDO) Sharad Kumar Bhattarai and the then section officer, Kashi Raj Dahal, of the District Administration Office, for granting citizenship to Kantipur Media Group Chairman Kailash Sirohiya.
According to police sources, arrest warrants have been ordered against them by the District Court, Dhanusha.
When Sirohiya obtained a copy of his citizenship on 2057-06-29 BS, Sharad Kumar Bhattarai was the CDO of Dhanusha, and Dahal was the section officer.
Arrest warrants have been issued against both former government officials on the charge that citizenship was granted to Kailash Prasad Sirohiya on the basis of descent, despite the fact that he, along with Gopal Prasad Sirohiya, Govinda Prasad Sirohiya, and Poonam Kumari Sirohiya - children of Ghasiram Marwadi (Sirohiya) - are recorded in the citizenship registry as naturalized Nepali citizens born in the Kingdom of Nepal to foreign parents.
