Kathmandu district alone has 42.34 percent of total active cases in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Oct 30: Kathmandu district, the federal capital of Nepal, has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases among the 77 districts of the country. 

According to the latest updates released by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the district has so far confirmed 60,742 COVID-19 cases. Of them, 44,288 have recovered while 212 have lost their battle against the viral infection. 

The district still has 16,242 active cases which accounts for 42.34 percent of the national tally -- 38,357. 

The Kathmandu Valley which has three districts - Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur - witnessed 1,888 new cases on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 60,742. 

The Valley has so far reported 333 COVID-19 related deaths -- 212 in Kathmandu, 63 in Bhaktapur and 58 in Lalitpur. 

Following the government’s decision to lift the nationwide lockdown in July earlier this year, the Valley has turned into the biggest COVID-19 hotspot in the country.
