KATHMANDU, Dec 7: Karnali Yaks defeated defending champions Janakpur Bolts by three runs in the final league-stage match of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 130 runs at the TU International Cricket Ground, Janakpur were restricted to 126 for six in the allotted 20 overs. Imran Sheikh top-scored for Karnali with 33 runs.
For Janakpur, Aditya Mehta and Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi picked up two wickets each.

Janakpur Bolts’ Sanjay Krishnamurthy scored a half-century, making 51 runs. This is his second half-century of the season.
With this, the number of half-centuries in the ongoing NPL has reached 35.
A total of 29 players have contributed to the 35 half-centuries so far. Ravi Bopara of Chitwan Rhinos leads the list with three fifties, while Kushal Bhurtel and Adam Rossington of Pokhara Avengers, and Priyank Panchal of Karnali Yaks, have scored two each.
Similarly, one half-century each has been scored by Binod Bhandari, Josh Brown, Harmit Singh, Chris Lynn, and Eshan Pandey of Sudurpaschim Royals; Lokesh Bam, Sam Hain, Faf du Plessis, Martin Guptill and Basir Ahmad of Biratnagar Kings; Sumit Verma, Jimmy Neesham and Rishi Dhawan of Pokhara; David Malan and Arjun Saud of Chitwan Rhinos; Bhim Sharki, John Simpson and Ben Charlesworth of Kathmandu Gorkhas; Mark Watt of Karnali; D’Arcy Short of Lumbini Lions; and Wayne Parnell, Maj Sadakat, Anil Shah and Aasif Sheikh of Janakpur Bolts.
Only two centuries have been hit this season—by Mark Watt of Karnali Yaks and Adam Rossington of Pokhara Avengers.
