KATHMANDU, Dec 2: Karnali Yaks have set a target of 142 runs for Janakpur Bolts in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) match being held in Kirtipur. After winning the toss and opting to bat first at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Karnali Yaks scored 141 runs, losing 7 wickets in the allotted overs.
Although the opening partnership did not perform well, the middle-order batsmen managed to steady the innings, helping Karnali Yaks to set a respectable total. In the second over, Karnali lost opener Dev Khanal for just one run and their star batsman, Shikhar Dhawan, was also dismissed for 14 runs. Dhawan, who faced only 14 balls, was bowled out by Harsha Thakkar, while Khanal was dismissed by Lalit Rajbanshi.
Another foreign player, Chadwick Walton, was dismissed for 8 runs and Zeeshan Maksud was out for a duck. Babar Hayat was also caught out for 12 runs. Babar had shown promise by forming a 33-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Gulshan Jha. However, Gulshan was bowled out by Kishor Mahato for 36 runs.

Arjun Gharti was dismissed for 33 runs. He added 22 runs in the 19th over against Harsha Thakkar, facing 22 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 2 fours. Captain Sompal Kami remained not out at 29 runs. Sompal scored 29 runs off just 13 balls, including 1 six and 3 fours. In the final two overs, Sompal and Arjun added 43 runs, helping Karnali Yaks set a target of 142 runs.
Mohammad Mohsin took 2 wickets and James Neesham took 1 wicket.
This is Karnali Yak's first match in the NPL, while Janakpur Bolts won their opening game against Biratnagar Kings.
In the first match on Monday, Chitwan Rhinos defeated Kathmandu Gurkhas by 5 wickets.
