Karnali province prepares for third wave of COVID-19

KARNALI, July 26: The government of Karnali Province has decided to make preparations for the prevention and control of the third wave of COVID-19, Minister for Social Development of Karnali Province Yagya Bahadur Budha Chhetri informed Republica. 


In a meeting with experts on Sunday, Chhetri said that the provincial government is determined to save the residents of Karnali province from the third wave of COVID-19 that has started to emerge across the world.

“The Provincial government is very concerned for the health and safety of the citizens and has started preparations for the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic and is constantly working on the management of manpower and equipment,” Chettri said. “We have decided to prioritize the health sector and have requested all the local governments for their cooperation,” he added.


In addition, the installation of oxygen plants in Birendranagar Hospital and Mehelkuna Hospital have reached their final stages. The oxygen plants were installed by the Ministry of Social Development in coordination with Chaudhary Foundation and UNDP. 


Expressing his commitment to administer COVID-19 vaccines to every citizen in the province, Chhetri said that the people will not be deprived of services due to lack of manpower and medicines. Furthermore, COVID help desks have been installed in various entry points of the province along with the required manpower.
