Today we are witnessing daylight for 13 hours and 54 minutes in Nepal, the longest day in the northern hemisphere of the planet. It is also known as the summer solstice which marks the arrival of the summer season. The term ‘solstice’ is derived from the Latin word ‘solstitium’. Govt set to operate railway service on two routes in Tarai by January 2019
The government has made preparation to bring Jayanagar-Janakpur-Kurtha and Bathnaha-Biratnagar railways into operation by January next year. According to the Department of Railways, officials of Nepal and India held a discussion on Tuesday and Wednesday for technical preparation for the operation of railways.
PM Oli addresses CPC party school program, highlights role of political parties
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that political parties hold the key to development, prosperity and good governance, and they are the lead actors. They not only steer the present political course of a country but also shape its future direction, he said. PM Oli, who is on a six-day official visit to the People's Republic of China, said this while addressing the programme organized by Central Party School of the Communist Party of China in Beijing today. The theme of the programme was 'Role of Political Parties in Governance and Prosperity.'
Tourist arrival up by 12.5 % in first six months this year
The Department of Immigration says a total of 68,825 international tourists visited Nepal in May 2018, with a healthy increment of 9.6 % as compared to the arrival figures of May 2017. With this, the arrival figures in January - May period reached 454,855, an increase of 12.5% over the same period in 2017.
