Jumla facing shortage of gas and petroleum products

JUMLA, Oct 18: Gas and petroleum products have become scarce in Jumla as the Karnali Highway remains blocked due to incessant rain.


It has been difficult for consumers to get enough gas and petroleum products in the market now. Assistant Chief District Officer Pramila Rizal said that there has been a shortage of petroleum products as the Karnali highway is blocked. During the market monitoring, it has been found that there is a shortage of petroleum products in the district headquarters.

When there were rumors that the Karnali highway would not open for months, the market selling food and petroleum products was monitored under the leadership of Chandannath Municipality Deputy Mayor Ram Devi Khadka and Assistant Chief District Officer Rizal. According to Assistant Chief District Officer Rizal, there is enough supply of food grains and edible oil in the market which will be sufficient for almost two months.


According to the District Administration Office, during the monitoring of 10 shops, it was found that there is no problem with daily consumables except for petroleum products. 


The Road Division Office, Jumla, said that they are trying to open the blocked highway as soon as possible.
