Judge appointment process in Appellate Court begins

KATHMANDU, Feb. 12: The Judicial Council (JC) has on Tuesday begun appointment process of judges at the appellate courts.



Of those candidates who applied for the post and those who were automatically listed in the appointment list, 39 candidates today presented the gist of their written replies orally to the council office-bearers.



Earlier, the Council on November 7, 2011 issued a public notice to the candidates for presenting their concept paper not exceeding 500 words in the first part and 3,000 words in the second part.



The first chapter is about the reason of desiring to get appointment to the post, academic and professional capacity of candidates. The second part is concerned about the concept of limitation and its impact on judiciary, value of jurisdiction of appellate court´s writs, challenges in implementation of verdicts, among others.



Council Chairman and Chief Justice Khilaraj Regmi was also present on the occasion.



A total of 600 candidates have applied for the post of chief judge and judges at 16 appellate courts across the country.
