BIRGUNJ, Oct 10: Some members of the ruling Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) have been burning the effigies of the party’s Chairman Upendra Yadav in Birgunj for not making lawmaker Pradeep Yadav of Parsa Constituency 1 a minister. The group held protests at the party’s district coordination office at Mungli main road on Friday and in front of the clock tower in Birgunj on Saturday.
They were heard shouting slogans and holding placards like ‘No entry for Upendra Yadav in Parsa’ and ‘Residents of Parsa will not be deceived.’
The protestors expressed their anger over Upendra Yadav’s decision to not recommend Pradeep Yadav to the post of a minister. They called party’s chairman Yadav a ‘black snake’ and burned his effigy.

“Birgunj stood up for the movement but Janakpur was chosen as the headquarters of the province. Upendra Yadav, who said that Pradeep Yadav will be appointed a minister did not keep his word. He has deceived us,” the protestors said.
Parsa Chairman of JSP expresses sadness
Meanwhile, Parsa Chairman of JSP, Ram Naresh Yadav said that he is saddened by the ongoing developments. “We requested for Pradeep Yadav to be appointed as a minister for his contribution to the party since the Madhesh movement till the last elections. Unfortunately, the decision was not in our favor,” he said. “However, there is no need to deny or oppose the decision made by the party,” he added.
Furthermore, he said that it is not possible for a party member to burn the effigy of the party's chairman, party’s signboards, and the flag of the party. “People who are part of such actions are not members of the party. I condemn such acts and I am sad as well,” he said.
