JANAKPURDHAM, Sept 29: Dhanusha's influential CPN-UML leader Gangaram Yadav has joined the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP). JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav welcomed him into the party on Thursday at Yadukuha in Sahidnagar Municipality of Dhanusha.
The JSP, which is a part of the ruling coalition, has prepared to field Yadav from Dhanusha Constituency 2 if the coalition decides to allot this constituency to JSP. Yadav was a member of the CPN-UML Political Advisory Committee.
SC upholds EC’s decision to give authenticity of JSP to Yadav
Uma Shankar Aragriya , the elected Member of Parliament from Dhanusha Constituency 2 and a Loktantrik Samajwadi Party leader, entered the UML on Saturday. Then on Monday, he announced that he had left the party. Even though UML had recommended Yadav’s name from this constituency, his chance of getting a ticket became slim with the entry of Aragriya in UML.
Yadav was associated with the UML for the last 30 years. He is considered an influential leader in this region. But these constituencies are more likely to be won by Nepali Congress from the coalition. In the last local elections, NC got the most votes in these areas.
