'Jhimik Jhimik Jhyappa’ at Mandala Theatre

KATHMANDU, June 10 : The plot of the play revolves around a young boy attempting to steal from his friend’s house to leave a good impression onto his girlfriend’s father -- a rich art collector.

KATHMANDU, June 10: In coordination with Theatre Village and Thames College, Dilip Ranabhat directorial ‘Jhimik Jhimik Jhyappa’ will be staged at Mandala Theatre starting this Tuesday. The play is the adaptation of one-act farce, ‘Black Comedy’ by Peter Shaffer. 



The plot of the play revolves around a young boy attempting to steal from his friend’s house to leave a good impression onto his girlfriend’s father -- a rich art collector. A sudden power cut interrupts the attempt that leads to a series of events. The play will be enacted in the dark to represent power cut.

The play centers on the idea of how people being in the veil of modernity tend to fool others eventually affecting their relationship with others. The play additionally sheds light on how social and political facets of society add up to defining the void in peoples’ relationship.


The cast for the play includes Ayushna Giri, H K Adhikari, Prashansha Poudel, Ayushman Pyakhurel, Prastuti Bhattarai, Shrawan Kumar Rana and Bipin Rimal. Similarly, Sajan Kumar Sunuwar and Sushan Shrestha are the assistant directors. Umesh Tamang will be lending technical support for the play translated from English to Nepali by Dilip Ranabhat and Alok Lamsal.
