The JEMC has been printing the school level textbooks.
Managing Director of JEMC Birendra Kumar Das said thousands of employees of the Centre would take to the streets if the government does not retract its decision that will likely make the JEMC and the Sajha Publications bankrupt.
The employees at Sajha Publications have waged an agitation since Sunday after the Curriculum Development Centre called for tender proposals from the private sector for printing the textbooks in the Central Region also from this year.
The government had authorized the printing of school level textbooks to the private sector of the Eastern and Western regions since three years back.
Das said JEMC is fully capable of printing the textbooks and it can print the required number of textbooks in time. He said the government´s decision to allow the private sector to print the school textbooks was a suicidal decision. He said it would lead to the bankruptcy of the JEMC and Sajha Publications.
Das said the textbooks would become expensive if printed and distributed by the private sector. He said the students from the poor families in rural and remote parts of the country will suffer.
He said the employees of JEMC and Sajha Publications will wage a stringent agitation of the Ministry did not retract its decision by September 8.
