JANAKPUR, Feb 4: The Janakpur-Jayanagar Railway service is set to come into operation from the second week of February. The locals of a dozen villages of different localities including Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City, Orahi Rural Municipality and Janaknandani Rural Municipality of Dhanusha are overjoyed as their dream of boarding the train is finally going to come true.
Bishwa Lal Yadav of Aurhi Rural Municipality-6 of Dhanusha said that the locals were disappointed as there was delay in the operation of the railway but with the recent news that the train would run in the next few weeks, locals are really excited. “After seeing the Nepal Railway Company testing the train a few days ago, we now have a hope that the railway service will operate soon,” he said.
Kurtha-Jaynagar Railway service coming into operation very soon
The train service will be operated along the 35 kilometers distance from Jayanagar in India's Bihar state up to Kurtha in Janakpur. According to Nepal Railway Company, Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will jointly inaugurate the railway service.
“We are preparing to operate Jayanagar-Kurta railway service from the third week of February 2022,” said Niranjan Jha, General Manager of Nepal Railway Company. After the joint inauguration of the railway service by the prime ministers of both the countries, the train will be operated regularly, according to General Manager Jha.
The railway fare on the 35 kilometers section from Jayanagar to Kurtha is Rs 70 per person in ordinary class and Rs 300 per person in AC class. General Manager Jha also said that although preparations have been made to operate the train service, clips in the railway leak are being stolen and vegetable markets and shops are being set up on the railway leak. He has urged people not to do so and help in the operation of the railway service.
