MAKHWANPUR, Jan 9: Shalikram Jamkattel, the leader of the CPN (Maoist Center), has been appointed as the chief minister (CM) of Bagmati Province after a power-sharing deal was reached among the ruling parties.

Jamkattel, the leader of the Maoist parliamentary party in Bagmati, was appointed as the chief minister by Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma.
He has been appointed as the chief minister according to Article 186 of the Constitution of Nepal. Jamkattel has the support of 70 members of the provincial assembly - 21 members from Maoist Center, 27 from UML, 13 from Rastriya Prajatantra Party, seven from the Unified Socialist and two from Hamro Nepali Party.
