MAKWANPUR, Jan 10: The newly appointed chief minister (CM) of Bagmati Province Salikram Jamkattel has taken the oath of office and secrecy. Maoist Central Parliamentary Party leader Jamkattel was administered the oath by Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma on Tuesday morning. He was appointed as the chief minister on Monday according to Sub-article 2 of Article 168 of the Constitution of Nepal.
Bagmati CM Jamkattel gets vote of confidence
Chief Minister Jamkattel has expanded the small-sized cabinet. CPN-UML parliamentary party leader Jagannath Thapaliya has taken oath as the Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning and RPP parliamentary party leader Uddhab Thapa has taken oath as minister without portfolio. Jamkattel was appointed the chief minister on Monday after submitting a claim with the support of 70 members of the provincial assembly.
He has the support of UML, RPP, CPN (Unified Socialist) and Hamro Nepali Party along with the Maoist Center. In Bagmati, there are 21 MPs from Maoist Center, 27 from UML, 13 from RPP, seven from Unified Socialist and two from Hamro Nepali Party.
