Israel conflict delays Manang Air's helicopter delivery and business plans

KATHMANDU, March 6: The ongoing war in Israel has affected the implementation of Manang Air's business plan. Raju Neupane, the company's security manager, said that the war had affected bringing a helicopter as per schedule.


“We had planned to bring a helicopter on February 15 and operate it from March. However, the helicopter that was shipped from France was stopped at the Red Sea for some time due to the ongoing war in Israel," he said.

According to him, the helicopter has just been brought to Kolkata. "Now we are preparing to bring it to Kathmandu through Birgunj through containers," he said.


After both helicopters were damaged in accidents in 2023, the company bought new helicopters. Neupane said that a helicopter of Airbus was bought for Rs 460 million.


The company, which is preparing to fly the helicopter by the end of March after completing all the procedures of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) after bringing it to Kathmandu, has said that it will bring another helicopter within two months.


The helicopter with 9N-AMV (ASSO) call sign of this company met with an accident on July 11 while flying from Surke in Solukhumbu to Kathmandu and the helicopter with 9N-ANJ call sign had an accident on October 14 during the Lukla-Lobuche flight.
