Injured Gen Z protesters receive ID cards; 56 victims given Rs 20,000 in relief

KATHMANDU, Oct 6: The government has started issuing identification cards to those injured during the Gen Z movement on 8 and 9 September, along with Rs 20,000 in relief.



On Sunday, three injured protesters received their ID cards at the National Trauma Center. Speaking to journalists, Mukti Ram Rijal, Assistant Chief District Officer and spokesperson of the Kathmandu District Administration Office, said that so far, 56 injured individuals have been issued ID cards.

“We have distributed cards to those receiving treatment in hospitals, on bed rest at home, and those able to come to collect them,” Rijal said. “In total, 56 people have received ID cards and relief as per the government decision. More distributions are underway for other injured protesters.”


The initiative aims to identify, support, and provide relief to those affected by the movement. Some recipients, however, expressed disappointment that the interim government had not acted as effectively as expected, noting that hundreds of injured protesters nationwide remain under treatment with limited attention from authorities.


Dr. Jagat BK of the Gen Z movement is coordinating the card distribution and claims to have introduced the concept himself.
