Informant of Malaysian tourist to get Rs 200,000

MYAGDI, April 12: The Malaysian government has announced to provide Rs 200,000 to one informing about Malaysian trekker who has gone missing in the district during his visit to Annapurna Area.
 
Malaysian Embassy announced to provide the amount to the informant of Dennis Lee Thian Poh, 47, a professional businessman missing since April 5 in the Ghorepani area of the Khopra Danda trek.


The group was travelling from Khopra Danda to Duerali. The group had already reached the highest point of their trek and this was the first day of the descent. It was at some point during this part of the trek that Dennis went missing.

Rescuers are searching for him in the bordering area of Myagdi and Kaski districts.

DSP Hira Bahadur Giri said the search operation will continue on Sunday as well, adding a team from the embassy is coordinating with the police.

10 rescuers, 12 police personnel and four dogs have been mobilized for the search. Search operations are concentrated at altitude of 3,000 meters as the trekker was last contacted at the altitude.
