Industrial strikes should be stopped, says Minister Pandey

KATHMANDU, July 3: Minister for Industry Som Prasad Pandey has said that strikes in the name of trade unions should be legally stopped as many industries have become fragile due to such activities.

KATHMANDU, July 3: Minister for Industry Som Prasad Pandey has said that strikes in the name of trade unions should be legally stopped as many industries have become fragile due to such activities.


Speaking at program organized by a Parliamentary Committee on Commerce, Industries and Consumer Welfare Relation, Minister Pandey said that the environment to ease the running of industries for nation’s prosperity.

“We have achieved political rights,” he said, “Now, the industrial strike should be permanently stopped.”


On the occasion, Minister Pandey informed the government’s decision on establishment of industrial estates in seven provinces and Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in 14 different places.


Discussing over the SEZ Bill and its operation and management, lawmakers urged the government to create an investment-friendly environment.
