Indian ambassador inspects Tanakpur dam

KANCHANPUR, Feb. 28: Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Jayant Prasad, today, inspected the Tanakpur Dam here. There is long-standing dispute between Nepal and India over the Tanakpur dam.



Prasad also inspected the canal on the Nepal side and the Mahendrapur- Tanakpur link road.[break]



A technical team accompanying the Ambassador also carried out a feasibility study for the construction of a new concrete bridge on the Mahakali River as the bridge at Sharada barrage has become dilapidated.



During the visit, Ambassador Prasad gave assurances to take initiatives to start the construction of the canal and the link road, soon.



Officials of the Indian embassy, the Chief District Officer, Kanchanpur, and Chiefs of the local security bodies, among others, were also present on the occasion.
